We were appointed in 2009 to produce 'A Guide to Castle and Tower-House Restoration in Scotland' on behalf of Historic Scotland. The report was written by our architects, archaeologists and architectural historians.

Gargunnock House

Gargunnock House is a 16th century category A-listed house. The work involved carefully running new wiring behind existing historic finishes throughout the house and locating new fire detectors in suitable ceiling positions.

This mixed use scheme includes the comprehensive fabric repair of the castle to form a high quality hospitality venue and the creation of a new contemporary museum. The project is a collaboration with Malcolm Fraser Architects.

In 1999 Simpson & Brown was commissioned, in conjunction with Richard Murphy, to alter Poltimore House, a Grade 2* listed building situated on the outskirts of Exeter, for use as a contemporary art gallery.
