Simpson & Brown Architects with Addyman Archaeology

Vicky Mitchell

Vicky joined Simpson & Brown in May 2019, having graduated from the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen the year prior. Hailing from rural Aberdeenshire, Vicky started her career at a predominantly residential practice which exposed her to the many opportunities available to adaptively reuse our rich existing Scottish built heritage. While obtaining her BSc and subsequent MArch, Vicky expanded on this interest with particular focus on the architecture surrounding the whisky industry – exploring both traditional typologies and contemporary solutions within the context of the modern visitor experience, achieving the ASA Silver Medal for best sixth year student.

Since joining Simpson & Brown, Vicky has been involved in a range of commercial, distillery, estate and residential projects, many of which are listed. Most notably, Vicky was involved with the refurbishment and alterations to Hamilton & Inches, jewellers and watchmakers, set for completion in Spring 2021.

Vicky has recently undertaken her Part III examination and became fully qualified as an Architect in February 2021.
