Designed in the 1870s for the Yorkshire Fine Arts and Industrial Institution, the York Art Gallery had undergone a number of alterations over subsequent years. Listed at grade II, this conservation statement was commissioned by the York Museums Trust as part of a masterplanning exercise for the gallery and the surrounding site to explore options for further expansion and alterations to the gallery itself.
The subsequent project to expand and refurbish the interior is a joint project between us and Ushida Findlay Architects.
