The Dumfries House conservation statement was completed in November 2007 for The Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust. This report was then extended and rewritten to form a full conservation plan to support work that was undertaken prior to opening the property to the public in summer 2008. The four-volume conservation plan includes a gazetteer of the house and a separate gazetteer for the designed landscape, including buildings and other key features.
The project involved a substantial element of primary research in a number of archives as well as a full investigation of the built fabric, producing a report of substantial depth and authority.
