Simpson & Brown frequently works on projects that require specialist architectural interiors. We have extensive experience in reinstating original panelled rooms, staircases and finely detailed cabinetwork. Where little evidence remains of an original scheme we refer to our extensive in-house library of 18th and 19th century joinery pattern books to ensure the correct profiles and designs are used.
In joinery detailing it is essential to understand the traditional methods for the assembly and sizing of joinery elements even if in a contemporary design. We work in close collaboration with experienced joiners and cabinet makers throughout the country to ensure the work is of a consistently high quality. By working closely with these specialists we bring a knowledge of moulding profiles and design proportion in traditional joinery whilst continuing to learn from them the best methods of construction, be it traditional or contemporary in design.
We often utilise joinery design to provide discreet solutions for the concealment of modern services equipment such as switchboards, mechanical ventilation and audio visual equipment. Our work has even extended to designing bespoke cat and dog flaps for private homes!
